In early summer 1982, an estimated 20,000 members of Local 23-25 of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union (ILGWU) — most of them Chinese immigrant women — walked off the job in protest, staging a brief and successful strike. This exhibit salutes the extraordinary outpouring of energy of the women.

This honorees this year are — Priscilla Bassett, civil rights activist; Muriel Fox, feminist leader and author; Dorthaan Kirk, champion of jazz; Theodora Lacey, integrating schools and housing; and Estela Vazquez, social justice warrior.
