African American Firefighter

Life-size Bronze

This bronze statue of an African American firefighter is located in Joliet, Illinois on Draper Ave north of Route 6. Farrell collaborates with community and labor groups to create public art that tells the often forgotten stories of the lives of ordinary people, their history, struggles and hopes. Since 1975, she has directed public art programs in Joliet that have created over 80 works of community-based public art.
