Painting the Anchor by Herb Kornfeld

Oil on canvas, 16 x 16 inches

California modernist painter Herb Kornfeld shows industrial ship workers in overalls painting an anchor. Note how the artist balances shapes and forms, especially with lines, like the two workers balanced on the plank. The image is part of the Labor Arts exhibit Scenes of American Labor with art works that evoke the individual and physical experience of work. The entire series is housed at the Sullivan Goss Gallery in Santa Barbara, CA.
