Taos Diner by Jack R. Smith
Oil on Copper, 10 x 10 inches
Painter Jack R. Smith shows a waitress pouring coffee for a worker in a Taos diner. Note the heightened sense of perspective and the way the two workers look out of the frame together. It is part of the Labor Arts exhibit Scenes of American Labor with thirty-nine paintings that explore the physical elements of people at work, and the workplaces and neighborhoods where they spend their time. The entire series is housed at the Sullivan Goss Gallery in Santa Barbara, CA.
