This beautiful close up of a California grape picker is by Jay Mercado.  See how the laborer is melded into his work and nature. Also note the blue cap which shields his face, and how it is difficult to tell if he is eating or working. It is part of the Labor Arts exhibit Scenes of American Labor with thirty nine paintings that evoke the individual and physical experience of work. The entire series is housed at the Sullivan Goss Gallery in Santa Barbara, CA.
