Farm Auction by Betty Lane
Watercolor on paper, 12 x 18 inches
Betty Lane (1907-1996) was born in Washington, DC and began painting at a young age, training in America and Paris. The simplicity and balance of this painting echoes its content, an auction of equipment and tools on a farm somewhere.
It is part of the Labor Arts exhibit Scenes of American Labor with thirty nine paintings that evoke the individual and physical experience of work. The entire series is housed at the Sullivan Goss Gallery in Santa Barbara, CA.
