Man With Shovel by Anders Aldrin
Oil on Canvas, 30 x 22 inches
Anders Aldrin (1889-1970) was a Swedish immigrant who began painting at age 34 in California. A modernist, Anders’ process and aesthetic was highly individual. He used color to convey intense emotion, stripped or deconstructed figures down to their most basic shapes, and depicted the historical process of industrial change in cities and people.
This painting is part of the Labor Arts exhibit Scenes of American Labor. The original paintings are housed at the Sullivan Goss Gallery in Santa Barbara, CA.
