Scene from the Hollywood Strikes
Weatherwax remembers:
“The Hollywood Strikes of 1945-1946 involved over 10.000 studio workers, from script editors to carpenters and key grips. I was working a full time job in photofinishing but came as I could to observe and photograph. Photographers had to be very careful as ‘goons’ had been imported from the East Coast and were armed with pipes, hammers, and clubs to suppress and intimidate. Cameras could be and were broken and supporters could be and were physically assaulted.”
