Untitled #7 [Cap]
Strength of character and strength of purpose seems to lurk within each of these portraits of San Francisco longshoremen in the year after the historic strike of 1934. This man may have stopped in during his lunch break, as many did, for he appears to be dressed for work. His cap, worn sideways, is a harbinger of today’s base ball cap style.
Pele deLappe, watercolor and charcoal, 1935.
