Untitled #6 [Taking Notes]
Pele deLappe’s portraits of San Francisco longshoremen in 1935 reflect her life-long commitment to socially engaged art. The rank and file union members who came to sit for her appear to share her commitment, including this serious looking fellow. Is his thoughtful expression related to the notes he is taking?
Pele deLappe, watercolor and charcoal, 1935.
