Untitled #2 [Hatch Tender]

Artist and activist Pele deLappe remembered the man in this 1935 portrait when she was interviewed in 2003. “You can tell the Swede was a jolly fellow. We had a good time” during the day or so it took to complete each longshoreman’s portrait.
