Theresa Capriglione, “Arrival”
Photographer Theresa Capriglione give us a clue as to what inspired this image. “My family migrated to the United States from Italy,” she writes. “They brought to this country their love for the land and their favorite past time: gardening.”
Ms. Capriglione is a hospital care investigator at Jacobi Hospital and a member of SSEU Local 371 AFSCME in New York City. She participated in photography classes offered through Bread and Roses, a nonprofit cultural project of the labor union 1199. The image is included in Unseen America: Photos and Stories by Workers (Regan Books, 2006).
