Noune Manjares, “Mom Looking out the Window”
“I never knew when I took this picture of my mom that the love in my life would come out as well,” wrote Noune Manjares of this photograph of her mother. “She’s so dear to me; that why I took her as my model. Just then, I came to realize that the pictures you take of loved ones will reflect yourself.”
The photograph is included in Unseen America: Photos and Stories by Workers (Regan Books, 2006), Ms. Manjares, a nanny with Damayan Migrant Workers Association in New York City, participated in photography classes through Bread and Roses, a nonprofit cultural project of the labor union 1199.
