Chi Ling Tang, “Chinese Herb Store”

“Chinese Herbs have been used to cure diseases, save people, and keep us healthy for thousands of years,” wrote photographer Chi Ling Tang about her image of a Chinese herb store. “These plants can do many things. All of the little drawers on the wall are filled with different Chinese herbs.”

Chi Ling Tang is a garment worker and a member of Local 23-25 UNITE HERE in New York CIty. The photograph is included in Unseen America: Photos and Stories by Workers (Regan Books, 2006).
