This songbook was issued in 1934 by the Workers Music League of the Communist Party USA, and includes revolutionary and traditional songs. Note the cover’s revolutionary colors, and the multi ethnic, international composition of the soldier-workers. In the early 1930s, the Workers Music League sought to produce aesthetically complex music for the masses, drawing on elements of American and international folk music.
