‘Not Patriotic To Starve’ Flyer.

Issue by the Workers’ Alliance of America, which organized unemployed workers during the Great Depression with the demand for more relief and jobs.  The leaflet announces demonstrations in every city on January 9, 1937, leading to a national protest in Washington, DC on January 15.  It reproduces letters of support from John L. Lewis, president of the United Mine Workers of America, and William Green, president of the American Federation of Labor.  More than 50,000 people joined in the Alliance’s 1937 protests.
