Spirit of Central Trades airplane paid for with war bonds purchased by affiliates of the Central Trades’ Union.
Unionists gave generously to the war effort, buying large numbers of war bonds for ambulances, ships and aircraft. This photograph of a Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress, presumably issued by the Office of War Information, shows definite signs of doctoring–the donor’s name was etched in.
