Elba Cabrera is one of three sisters who changed the cultural landscape of New York, particularly the Bronx, through literature, literacy, the visual and performing arts, and political advocacy. Known in the Bronx as madrina de las artes, her personal relationships with artists and musicians and writers helps expand her service to the Association of Hispanic Arts, the Lehman Center for the Performing Arts, the Hostos Center for Arts and Culture and other cultural institutions.
