Leisurewear-Robe and Sportswear Workers Union
Local 284, ACWA
Red-orange cloth with gold lettering, fringe, borders and tassels. The center logo is a V with an Eagle holding broken chains (of oppression), an ACW of A logo and a medallion that reads: Victory in Union and Freedom. After the United States entered World War II union members made a pledge not to strike, but organizing continued apace as unions both supported the war efforts and negotiated for improvements in pay and benefits as the economy improved. This banner could have been made during or more probably just after the war, when funds would have been more readily available.
