Student and teacher both hold pencils as they work together in a workbook. Paraprofessional Lorraine Keuhnie is training to be a teacher in the UFT’s career ladder program. She describes the effort involved in each day’s activities: “the simplest things for these children can be like climbing a mountain ... I feel honored and privileged to work with them.”
