Human Fly, U.N. window washer, 1950.

Photograph by Bedrich Grunzweig .

One can't help being impressed by the appeal that workers engaged in dangerous activity at great heights - whether on bridges, buildings or other structures - had for the photographers of the period covered by these pictures. Since all of the photographers shown here were sympathetic to workers, one would assume that they are expressing admiration for the courage displayed by these workers in undertaking the dangerous work involved.
