ILGWU Local 23-25 members at Labor Day parade, New York City, 1981.
Starting in the early 1960s, the New York City Central Labor Council began to celebrate each Labor Day with a giant parade that involved all of the international unions and most of the local unions in New York City. The marchers shown here are from Local 23-25 of the International Ladies' Garment Workers' Union. They display their sewing skills with the dresses they wear, and carry American flags and signs reading "ILGWU -- Union Made -- Made in U.S.A."
